What I'm Hoping to See on the iPad 2

The time is almost here for Apple’s latest product to be announced. In this case, the iPad 2, the 2nd generation of a revolutionary product Apple released just about a year ago. Though expectations are sky high, I would be happy to see just a few things added to the iPad 2 to make it a stellar device.

1. Apple’s Rumored A5 Processor

This has been rumored for a while now. The A5 processor will make the iPad much speedier, and will make the “iPad” experience greater for the user. Though the A4 processor is already quick, a speed and performance can’t hurt!

2. The Retina Display

Though the display on the iPad is already beautiful, adding retina display will create unimaginably crisp images. The display will look unreal with a 2528x1896 pixel resolution, which packs much more “pixel punch” into every square inch.

3. A Front Facing Camera

Let’s face it, a back facing camera would be awkward to take pictures with on a device like the iPad. However, a front facing camera would be convenient and a very nice addition. The iPad would make the perfect communication device for those who want portability and accessibility with a front facing camera.
4. A Lower Price

A couple more bucks in everyone’s pockets won’t hurt, would it? Lowering the price by about $20 would be amazing!

5. A Home Button

Yes, iOS 4.3 Beta multi-touch gestures do rumor the removal of the classic home button. With the home button being signature to iOS devices, I don’t think the home button would be gone quite yet. Also, iOS 4.3 has not been released to the general public yet, and with the multi-touch gestures comes a learning curve. Besides, Apple did leave an option to turn the multi-touch gestures off.

That concludes what I am hoping to see on the iPad 2. What do you want to see? Leave a comment below!

As I mentioned in a previous post, a retina display on the iPad is very unlikely. Firstly, imagine how difficult it would be to render anything (not to mention games). Secondly, imagine how expensive it'd be to add a retina display; you said a $20 decrease would be good, if the retina display was added you'd be seeing somewhere in the ballpark of a double in price.

Other than that, great post :)

I honestly cannot see them removing the home button from the iPad 2 or the iPhone 5. Here is why. The iPad is designed to be a very user friendly device, as are all of Apples products. With that said; without a home button the average person would not be able to pick up an iPad and automatically know how to use it. That is the one reason Apple will NEVER remove their iconic home button.

Thanks Kiran!

I also agree with you Ty, it probably won't happen all too recently, however, if they do remove the home button, it would most likely be gone on the iPhone first.
